Mock Filet Mignon

  1. Tear bread into small pieces and place in a small shallow bowl.
  2. Add 1/2 cup water and let soak for 10 minutes.
  3. Squeeze water from bread; discard water.
  4. Combine softened bread, meat, seasoned salt and pepper in a medium bowl.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Shape mixture into 6 patties, each 1/2-inch thick.
  7. Wrap a bacon slice around each patty, securing with a toothpick.
  8. Melt shortening in a large skillet over medium heat.
  9. Cook patties until brown on each side.
  10. Place patties in a lightly greased 2 1/2-quart shallow baking dish.
  11. Combine 3/4 cup water, catsup and Worcestershire sauce.
  12. Stir well.
  13. Pour sauce over patties; cover and bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
  14. Serves 6.
