Chili Con Carne Pie
- 1/2 c. diced onion
- 1 clove garlic, diced
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 can tomatoes (2 c.)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. onion salt (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt (optional)
- 1 tsp. chopped green chili
- 3 c. cooked kidney or pinto beans
- chili powder to taste
- 1/4 c. grated Cheddar cheese
- cornbread topping
- Grease a shallow 2-quart casserole or baking dish.
- In the baking dish, combine all the ingredients except the cheese and topping.
- Place in oven at 450u0b0 for about 10 minutes while preparing the topping.
- Cover top of hot casserole with cornbread mixture and return to oven for approximately 25 minutes or until done.
