Cheeseburger Loaf
- 1 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 1 (5 1/3 oz.) can evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. cracker crumbs
- 1 c. (4 oz.) shredded American cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves
- 2 slices American cheese
- Combine all
- ingredients,
- except
- cheese
- slices
- in a large mixing
- bowl and mix lightly.
- Place mixture in an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x
- 2
- 5/8-inch
- loaf pan. Shape into a loaf.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 1 hour.
- Remove loaf from oven. Cut each cheese slice into 2 triangles
- and
- arrange
- overlapping
- on
- top of loaf. Return meat loaf to oven 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
- Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
- Yields 6 to 8 servings.
