Apple Squares

  1. Make 2 double pie crust recipes.
  2. Line an oblong shallow pan with half of the crust.
  3. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour together and sprinkle over bottom crust.
  4. Peel apples; slice and arrange on top of sugar and flour mixture.
  5. Mix another 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour together and sprinkle over top of sliced apples.
  6. Sprinkle with salt, cinnamon and lemon juice.
  7. Dot with butter.
  8. Roll out remaining half of dough for top crust.
  9. Cut a few slits for steam to escape.
  10. Lay over apples.
  11. Moisten edge of pie crust; turn under and flute.
  12. Bake at 425u0b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
  13. Frost lightly while warm with powdered sugar frosting. Cut in squares when cool.
