Sour Cookies

  1. Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with sour cream.
  3. Add vanilla.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Refrigerate for several hours.
  6. Roll dough 1/2 to 1/4-inch thick on floured cloth.
  7. Cut with large biscuit cutter.
  8. Place on greased cookie sheet and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  9. Bake in a 410u0b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
  10. Place cookie sheet on top rack of oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
  11. Bake smaller cookies 7 to 8 minutes.
  12. Place cookie sheet on top rack of oven to prevent the cookies from becoming too brown.
  13. They are best rather pale and soft.
  14. Check frequently to prevent overcooking.
