Chocolate Valentine'S Cake
- 3/4 c. cocoa powder
- 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tub fudge frosting
- 1 tub pastel color frosting
- 2 eggs, medium
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease 2 heart shaped pans, line bottom with waxed paper and dust with flour.
- Stir together boiling water and cocoa until smooth, set aside.
- Cream shortening and sugar in large bowl, blend in eggs, vanilla and salt.
- Stir baking soda into the buttermilk.
- Add cocoa/water mixture.
- Combine with other ingredients and blend thoroughly.
- Pour into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
- Cool 10 minutes.
- Remove from pans and cool completely.
- Frost with fudge frosting and pipe edges with pastel frosting.
