Apple Pie Dessert
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup chopped tart apple
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1-1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in apple and walnuts.
- Transfer to a greased 7-in. pie plate. Bake at 350u0b0 for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt. Gradually stir in water until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Serve warm with dessert.
