Orange Slice Cake
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
- 2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 lb. orange slice candies
- 1 (4 oz.) can flaked coconut
- 2 c. orange juice
- 2 c. confectioners sugar
- Preheat oven
- to
- 250u0b0.
- In
- large bowl, cream together butter or margarine
- and
- sugar.
- Add
- eggs,
- onett
- a time, beating well aftertach
- addition.
- In
- a measuring cup, dissolve baking soda
- in
- buttermilk.
- In
- a medium bowl, combine flour, dates, nuts and candies.
- Mix until thoroughly blended. Add coconut and stir to blend.
- Add flour mixture and buttermilk mixture to creamed mixture.
- Blend until a stiff dough is formed.
- Spoon dough
- into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake
- 2
- 1/2 hours or until cake is golden brown.
- (Cake will not test for doneness.)
