Orange Pound Cake
- 1 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 3 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1/4 c. orange juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 2 Tbsp. grated orange rind
- Cream butter; add sugar, beating at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Combine next 4 ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and orange juice, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Stir in flavoring and orange rind. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 hour and 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool cake in pan 10 minutes.
- Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
