Chocolate-Caramel Layer Squares

  1. Combine
  2. caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of double boiler;
  3. cook
  4. stirring
  5. constantly
  6. until caramels are completely melted.
  7. Remove
  8. double
  9. boiler from heat.tombine dry cake mix, remaining
  10. 1/3
  11. cup
  12. milk, butter and nuts; stir until dough holds together.
  13. Press
  14. 1/2 of cake mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch
  15. baking
  16. pan.
  17. Bakett
  18. 350u0b0
  19. for
  20. 6 minutes.
  21. Sprinkle chocolate morsels over crust.
  22. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate
  23. morsels,
  24. spreading
  25. evenly.
  26. Crumble remaining cake mixture
  27. over
  28. caramel mixture.
  29. Return to oven and bake 15 to 18 minutes;
  30. cool.
  31. Chill 30 minutes; cut into small bars.
  32. Yields about 5 dozen.
