The Original Kentucky Whiskey Cake

  1. Soak cherries and raisins in bourbon overnight.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add egg yolks; beat well.
  4. Stir in soaked fruit and bourbon.
  5. Combine 1/2 cup flour with pecans.
  6. Add remaining flour, nutmeg and baking powder; mix well.
  7. Fold in egg whites, then floured pecans.
  8. Pour batter into a greased 10-inch tube pan lined with greased brown paper.
  9. Bake at 250u0b0 to 275u0b0 for 3 to 4 hours.
  10. Store in tightly covered container.
