Ernest T. Bass Rock Bars
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla.
- Beat in the egg.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, soda and salt.
- Blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture and add nuts.
- Spread the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle chocolate chips on the top.
- Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 2 minutes.
- Remove and score with a knife to create a marbled effect.
- Return to oven and bake for 13 to 16 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serves 12.
