Fresh Blueberry Cake Pie(A Pennsylvania Dutch Dessert)

  1. In a medium saucepan, over moderate heat, gently stir berries, 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice until sugar is dissolved and mixture simmers.
  2. Let cool to lukewarm.
  3. In a medium bowl, cream butter with remaining sugar and vanilla.
  4. Add egg.
  5. Beat until fluffy. Add flour mixture (flour, baking powder and salt) alternating with milk.
  6. Beat gently until smooth.
  7. Fold in berry mixture just enough to marble.
  8. Pour into an unbaked pie shell.
  9. Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 35 minutes.
  10. Serve warm with whipped cream or ala mode.
