Simmered Chinese Chicken

  1. Heat oil in Dutch oven and brown chicken on all sides.
  2. Mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, catsup, sherry, Tabasco sauce, garlic and green onion.
  3. Pour mixture over chicken.
  4. Cover, simmer 35 to 45 minutes.
  5. Remove chicken to platter.
  6. Thicken pan juices with the cornstarch mixture.
  7. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  8. Spoon some sauce over chicken, sprinkle with sesame seed.
  9. Serve chicken with remaining sauce.
  10. Makes 4 servings.
