Easy Italian Casserole

  1. Cook and stir beef, onion and garlic until brown; drain.
  2. Stir in sauce, mushrooms, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  3. Reduce heat.
  4. Simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes.
  5. Heat oven to 400u0b0.
  6. Grease an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.
  7. Mix baking mix, milk and egg.
  8. Spread half in pan.
  9. Top with 4 cheese slices.
  10. Spoon beef over cheese. Top with remaining cheese slices; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Drop remaining dough by spoonfuls onto cheese.
  11. Sprinkle with paprika if desired.
  12. Bake until light brown, about 20 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
