Dilly Bread
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. minced onion
- 2 tsp. dill seed
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1 unbeaten egg (at room temperature)
- 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 c. bread flour
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Heat until lukewarm cottage cheese, sugar, minced onion, dill seed, butter, salt and soda.
- Add unbeaten egg and yeast mixture.
- Mix in to form a stiff dough, bread flour.
- Let mixture rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, 50 to 60 minutes.
- Stir the dough down.
- Turn into a well-greased casserole dish or two loaf pans.
- Let rise in a warm place for 40 minutes.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Spread butter and salt on top after removing from oven.
