- 1/4 to 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- flour
- Put first 4 ingredients in large bowl and let cool.
- Mix warm water and yeast in measuring cup.

- (Sue Frances said, "Do the dishes while above is cooling.")
- Put yeast water in Crisco water.
- Put in 2 cups flour and mix with electric mixer.
- Keep adding flour until right consistency for dough.
- (Recipe says 7 to 8 cups but Sue Frances said it does not take that much, all depends on the weather.)
- Put on biscuit board and knead until not sticky.
- Wash large bowl and grease it and put dough back in to rise to double bulk, usually 2 or 3 hours.
- Punch down.
- Let rest 10 minutes. (Knead if sticky adding more flour, Sue Frances said she seldom had to do this.)
- Grease two loaf pans.
- Shape into 2 loaves and put in pans.
- Let rise until double in bulk, 45 to 60 minutes.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven or until brown.
- Take out and put butter on top and put back in oven with heat off for a few minutes.
