Spicy Coleslaw From 'Around The Southern Table'
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 tablespoons refrigerated extra-hot horseradish
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- 4 cups finely chopped green cabbage
- 2 cups finely chopped red cabbage
- 1 cup shredded carrot
- 1/2 cup chopped red onion
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon seeded and chopped jalapeno pepper
- Whisk together first 11 ingredients in a small bowl until well blended.
- Combine green cabbage and next 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Add mayonnaise mixture, and stir until well blended. Adjust seasonings to taste. Cover and chill 1 hour before serving.
