Unstuffed Cabbage
- 6 c. coarsely shredded cabbage, divided (approximately 1/2 large head)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 (10 3/4 oz.) cream of tomato soup
- brown sugar (optional)
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- celery seed (optional)
- dash of garlic salt
- Sprinkle 3 cups shredded cabbage in bottom of a 2 to 3-quart buttered casserole.
- Saute chopped onion in small amount of oil until softened, but not browned.
- Add ground beef and cook and stir until lightly browned.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Spread meat over cabbage layer and top with remaining 3 cups cabbage.
- Spread tomato soup over the top; sprinkle with celery seed and brown sugar.
- Cover and bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven for 1 hour.
- Makes 5 servings.
