Serious Chocolate: Rice Krispie Spider Treats Recipe

  1. Melt the butter over low heat in a large saucepan.
  2. Add the marshmallows making sure to constantly stir.
  3. Add the Rice Krispies to the mixture, continuing to stir the mixture. When everything is coated, remove the pan from heat and allow the mixture to cool.
  4. Prepare the microwavable melted chocolate according to the instructions on the package.
  5. Place a little bit of butter on your hands and separate the Rice Krispies/marshmallow mixture into 10 portions. Shape them into tiny balls.
  6. Cut the black licorice into tiny legs and insert 8 of them into each of the balls. (Poke them between the Rice Krispies.)
  7. Use a slotted spoon to dip the balls into the melted chocolate. Allow to cool on a sheet of wax paper.
  8. Insert M&Ms or other tiny candy as eyes.
  9. Optional: Add coconut or sprinkles to make hairy spiders.
  10. The spiders will store for two days in an airtight container. Enjoy!
