Serious Chocolate: Rice Krispie Spider Treats Recipe
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 6 cups chocolate Rice Krispies
- Microwavable melted chocolate
- Black licorice rope
- M&Ms
- Melt the butter over low heat in a large saucepan.
- Add the marshmallows making sure to constantly stir.
- Add the Rice Krispies to the mixture, continuing to stir the mixture. When everything is coated, remove the pan from heat and allow the mixture to cool.
- Prepare the microwavable melted chocolate according to the instructions on the package.
- Place a little bit of butter on your hands and separate the Rice Krispies/marshmallow mixture into 10 portions. Shape them into tiny balls.
- Cut the black licorice into tiny legs and insert 8 of them into each of the balls. (Poke them between the Rice Krispies.)
- Use a slotted spoon to dip the balls into the melted chocolate. Allow to cool on a sheet of wax paper.
- Insert M&Ms or other tiny candy as eyes.
- Optional: Add coconut or sprinkles to make hairy spiders.
- The spiders will store for two days in an airtight container. Enjoy!
