Mama'S Applesauce Cake
- 2 1/2 c. apples, diced
- 1 c. peaches, diced
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- Mix apples, peaches, eggs, shortening and sugar together well. Mix dry ingredients together and add one cup at a time to batter. (Hint:
- Mix a little flour over raisins and nuts before adding to batter.)
- Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325u0b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
- (Writers note:
- Mama's original recipe had no measurement for the spices, raisins or nuts, as some who cook often and a lot use sight for measurement.
- I guessed about a teaspoon of each spice and a cup each of the raisins and nuts.)
