Easy Hawaiian Torte
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 unbeaten egg
- 1 c. (8 3/4 oz.) can crushed pineapple
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. flaked or chopped, shredded coconut
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- Sift together flour, soda and salt.
- Cream margarine or butter.
- Gradually add sugar, creaming well.
- Add egg, pineapple and vanilla.
- Mix well.
- Stir in the dry ingredients.
- Turn into 9-inch square pan, greased and floured on the bottom.
- Combine coconut and brown sugar; sprinkle over batter.
- Bake until cake springs back when touched lightly in center.
- Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
- Serves 9.
