Easy Hawaiian Torte

  1. Sift together flour, soda and salt.
  2. Cream margarine or butter.
  3. Gradually add sugar, creaming well.
  4. Add egg, pineapple and vanilla.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Stir in the dry ingredients.
  7. Turn into 9-inch square pan, greased and floured on the bottom.
  8. Combine coconut and brown sugar; sprinkle over batter.
  9. Bake until cake springs back when touched lightly in center.
  10. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
  11. Bake at 350u0b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
  12. Serves 9.
