Fastnacht Kuecheles

  1. Mix about 3 cups flour, yeast, salt and nutmeg together in large bowl.
  2. Heat milk and Crisco together until lukewarm.
  3. Add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed.
  4. Add eggs and lemon juice with more flour and beat 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
  6. Knead well.
  7. Cover dough and let rise until double in bulk.
  8. Place on breadboard and roll about 1/2-inch thick.
  9. Cut in squares.
  10. Cover.
  11. Heat oil to 375u0b0.
  12. Fry a few at a time.
  13. (Pull edges of dough to make a thinner center before frying.)
  14. Drain on paper towel, then shake in a bag with sugar and cinnamon.
  15. Yield:
  16. 40.
