Hungarian Goulash(Italian Style)
- 2 (1 lb.) cans whole tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1 1/2 lb. mushrooms (optional)
- 3 stalks celery
- 2 onions
- 1 bulb garlic
- 1/4 c. red wine
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. sweet basil
- 1 can water
- Heat olive
- oil
- in
- a large skillet.
- Grate garlic and chop celery
- and
- onions.
- Add this to heated olive oil.
- Cook until brown, then blend tomatoes in blender and put in a large pot.
- Add garlic,
- onions
- and celery.
- Quarter mushrooms and add to sauce,
- also
- add tomato paste.
- Cook ground chuck and pork. Drain
- fattnd
- add
- to
- sauce.
- Add
- red wine, sugar, oregano and sweet
- basil.
- Bring
- to a boil, then simmer for 3 to 4 hours,
- stirring occasionally.
- When finished, pour over spaghetti or elbow macaroni.
