English Pea Casserole
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
- 1 c. chopped onions
- 1 can (8 oz.) water chestnuts, drained and chopped
- 1 can English peas, drained
- 1 small jar pimento
- 1 small can mushrooms, drained and chopped
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 2 slices white bread, torn in thumbnail size pieces
- Using
- one
- stick
- butter,
- saute
- celery,
- pepper
- and onions.
- In
- a separate large bowl, mix peas, water chestnuts, pimento, mushrooms and soup.
- Add sauteed vegetables and place in large
- casserole
- dish.
- Top
- withtread crumbs which have been dipped in 1/2 stick of melted butter.
- Bake at 450u0b0 until bubbly and crumbs are brown.
