Beef Stew
- 1 to 1 1/2 lb. beef, cut in small cubes
- 1 Tbsp. Promise margarine
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 carrots, sliced thickly in rounds
- 6 potatoes, cubed (approximately 1-inch)
- 1 (29 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 bouillon cubes
- pepper to taste
- Cook
- in
- Dutch
- oven
- or
- 6 quart pot.
- Saute onion in Promise.
- Add
- beef and cook on medium heat until most of pink is gone.
- Addtomatoes,
- carrots
- and potatoes, bay leaf and bouillon
- cube.
- Bring
- totoil and then reduce to simmer for approximately 20 to 25 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add pepper
- and
- check
- for salt.
- Add if necessary.
- Stew is even better the second day.
- Good served with garlic bread.
