Coffee Cake

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Blend in egg; add milk.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and blend into first ingredients.
  4. Spread batter in greased 9-inch pan.
  5. Arrange apple slices on top of batter, pressing them slightly into the batter.
  6. Combine sugar substitute and cinnamon and sprinkle on top.
  7. Bake at 375u0b0 for 25 to 35 minutes.
  8. Yield: 16 (2 inch) squares.
  9. Carbohydrate 23 g, protein 2 g, fat 4 g, calories 136.
  10. One square = 1 bread starch exchange, 1 fat exchange, 1 fruit exchange.
