Cranberry Bread
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
- 1 Tbsp. hot water
- 1/2 c. orange juice
- 1/2 c. nut meats, cut up
- 1 c. cranberries, cut up
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Add egg beaten.
- Mix well.
- Add melted shortening and hot water.
- Mix into flour mixture, then add orange juice until dough is wet but not thin.
- Fold in broken nuts and cranberries which have been cut in half.
- (I sometimes run through salad grinder.)
- Put in regular bread pan greased and bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350u0b0.
- When done, take from oven, butter top crust and wrap in wax paper.
- Put in refrigerator for 3 hours. Take out and put on new paper.
- Store in refrigerator until used.
