Banana Nut Bread
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 c. margarine or 2 sticks
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk *
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 4 c. sifted flour
- 3 large bananas, mashed up
- 1/2 to 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1 beaten egg (for basting)
- sesame seed
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Scald milk and cool to lukewarm.
- Combine yeast, milk and one teaspoon of sugar in a large bowl.
- Sift in 1/2 cup of flour.
- Stir until flour is dampened.
- Cover bowl with a clean cloth and set in a warm place for about one hour.
