Kathryn Palmer'S Maple Bars

  1. Cream sugar and shortening at medium speed of a mixer until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add syrup, vanilla, and eggs; beat until well-blended. Combine oats and next 4 ingredients; stir well. Add to creamed mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  2. Pour batter into a 13 x 9-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
