Sweet & Sour Meatballs
- 1 pkg. regular onion soup mix
- 2 eggs
- 1 (16 oz.) jar sauerkraut, drained and snipped (large dice)
- 1 (8 oz.) can whole cranberry sauce
- 3/4 c. chili sauce
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 lbs. lean ground beef
- 3/4 c. water
- hot cooked rice
- In mixing bowl combine onion mix and 1/2 c. water.
- Beat in eggs with fork.
- Add ground beef and mix well.
- Shape into 40 balls.
- Combine sauerkraut, cranberry sauce, chili sauce, 3/4 c. water and brown sugar.
- Pour half of this mixture into bottom of 9 X 13 glass baking dish.
- Set rest aside.
- In a hot skillet brown meatballs.
- Arrange balls atop sauerkraut in dish.
- Pour remaining sauerkraut mix over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake 20 minutes at 325u0b0.
- Uncover and bake 20 minutes longer.
- Serve hot over cooked rice.
- 10 to 12 servings.
