Gouda Strata
- 2 Tbsp. reduced-calorie margarine
- 6 slices thin-sliced whole wheat bread
- 1/2 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese (2 oz.)
- 1 c. shredded Gouda cheese (4 oz.)
- 1/4 c. finely chopped onion (about 1 small)
- 1 large clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 1/2 c. skim milk
- 1/4 tsp. red pepper sauce
- 3 eggs
- 1 egg white
- Heat oven to 325u0b0.
- Spread margarine 1 side of each slice of bread.
- Cut each slice diagonally into 4 triangles.
- Arrange 16 triangles with margarine sides against sides and bottom of ungreased square baking dish, 8 x 8 x 2-inches.
- Mix cheeses, onion, garlic, mustard and salt; spread over bread.
- Arrange remaining ingredients; pour over bread.
- Bake uncovered until knife comes out clean when inserted in center, about 1 hour.
- Let stand about 10 minutes before serving.
- Makes 6 servings.
