Orange-Raisin Cake

  1. Cream the sugar and shortening well.
  2. Stir in beaten egg.
  3. Add alternately the flour and the sour milk into which soda has been mixed, with the flour.
  4. Grind oranges, rind and all, with raisins. Set aside 3 tablespoons and add the remaining to cake batter.
  5. Bake in a 10 x 10 x 2-inch square pan for 35 to 40 minutes in moderate oven at 350u0b0.
  6. Add confectioners sugar to the 3 tablespoons orange and raisin mixture.
  7. Mix and pour over cake while it is still very hot.
  8. It makes a delicious frosting.
  9. The mixture may be added to 7-Minute Frosting if the cake is baked in layers.
