Marbled Brownies

  1. Cream the first three ingredients together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
  3. Add flour and salt.
  4. Mix until blended.
  5. Stir in nuts.
  6. Divide batter in half and add chocolate to one-half.
  7. Drop batter alternately by heaping teaspoonfuls into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Press down with spoon to smooth top, then run knife through batter several times to marbleize.
  8. Bake in a moderate oven about 45 minutes.
  9. When cooled, spread with frosting.
  10. Makes approximately 24 (2-inch) squares.
