Rich N' Creamy Hot Chocolate

  1. In 3-quart saucepan, melt chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Stir in sugar, water and salt.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with wire whisk, until mixture comes to full boil (4 to 5 minutes).
  4. Boil, stirring constantly, 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in milk and whipping cream.
  6. Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through (12 to 15 minutes).
  7. DO NOT BOIL.
  8. Add vanilla.
  9. Beat with wire whisk or rotary beater until frothy.
  10. Pour into mugs.
  11. If desired, add 1 to 2 tablespoons liqueur to each serving.
  12. Top each serving with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream.
  13. If desired, garnish with one of the following: grated chocolate, grated lemon peel, grated orange peel, cinnamon or nutmeg.
  14. Makes 8 cups.
