Drop Sugar Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
  2. In small bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda.
  3. In large bowl, cream butter and shortening. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in vanilla and egg.
  5. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture; beat until smooth.
  6. Blend in milk.
  7. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
  8. Flatten with bottom of greased glass that has been dipped into sugar.
  9. Bake for 12 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
  10. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 5 1/2 dozen cookies.
