Chunky Chocolate Cookie Squares
- 2 1/2 c. unsifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 c. Karo light or dark syrup
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. Baker's semi-sweet chocolate
- Mix flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix at medium speed the butter and sugar; beat until fluffy. Slowly beat in corn syrup, then egg and vanilla.
- Beat in flour mixture until blended.
- Stir in pecans and half of the chocolate chunks and spread evenly in ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch pan.
- Sprinkle remaining chocolate on top.
- Bake in oven at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Cool on rack.
- Cut into squares.
- Makes about 2 dozen.
