Chocolate Chiffon Cake(Makes About 12 Servings)
- 1 (4 oz.) bar sweet baking chocolate
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 5 eggs, separated
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- powdered sugar
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Melt chocolate in hot water; set aside. Beat egg whites in large bowl until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff and glossy; set aside.
- Combine melted chocolate mixture, egg yolks, flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla in small bowl; beat 1 minute with electric mixer. Carefully fold chocolate mixture into egg whites until blended. Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.
- Invert in pan; cool completely.
- Remove from pan; sprinkle with powdered sugar.
