My Favorite Buttermilk Pound Cake(Serves 12)
- 1 1/4 c. Crisco
- 3 c. sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
- 3 or 4 drops of butter flavoring
- 3 or 4 drops of almond flavoring
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Cream sugar and Crisco; let it collect around the sides of the bowl.
- Add eggs in center of bowl and beat at very high speed.
- Add soda, salt and flavorings to buttermilk and stir.
- Stir Crisco and sugar into eggs and beat until light and creamy.
- Add 1/3 of flour and mix well.
- Add 1/2 of milk; mix well.
- Add remainder of milk; add remainder of flour and mix well. Bake in a well-greased and wax paper-lined tube pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until done at 350u0b0.
