Peanut Butter Dipped Cocoa Bonbons

  1. Beat cream cheese and milk in bowl.
  2. Blend in powdered sugar, cocoa and vanilla.
  3. Stir in nuts.
  4. Chill until firm enough to handle (about 1 hour).
  5. Shape into 1/2-inch balls and place on waxed paper.
  6. Chill 3 to 4 hours or overnight (uncovered). Centers should feel dry to touch.
  7. Stir chips and shortening over hot, not boiling, water until melted.
  8. Using a fork, dip each center into the peanut butter mixture.
  9. Tap fork on side of pan to remove excess mixture.
  10. Slide bonbons upside-down on the waxed paper.
  11. Chill and store in a cool place.
  12. Yields about 3 1/2 dozen bonbons.
