One Loaf Whole Wheat Bread

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Combine milk, sugar, salt, honey or molasses and shortening. When cool, add yeast mixture and whole wheat flour.
  3. Beat well. Add white flour to make a stiff dough. Knead until smooth and satiny.
  4. Place in a greased bowl and let rise.
  5. After dough has doubled in bulk, punch it down and let rise again.
  6. Make it into one loaf.
  7. Let rise until double. Bake at 400u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Remove. Brush with melted butter and after it has cooled, wrap in aluminum foil.
  9. It will freeze well.
