One Loaf Whole Wheat Bread
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 2 Tbsp. honey or molasses
- 3 Tbsp. melted margarine
- scant 2 1/2 c. white flour
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- Dissolve yeast in water.
- Combine milk, sugar, salt, honey or molasses and shortening. When cool, add yeast mixture and whole wheat flour.
- Beat well. Add white flour to make a stiff dough. Knead until smooth and satiny.
- Place in a greased bowl and let rise.
- After dough has doubled in bulk, punch it down and let rise again.
- Make it into one loaf.
- Let rise until double. Bake at 400u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Remove. Brush with melted butter and after it has cooled, wrap in aluminum foil.
- It will freeze well.
