Date-And-Maple Scones
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup chilled stick margarine, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup chopped pitted dates
- 1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- Cooking spray
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add dates; toss well. Combine milk and syrup. Add to flour mixture, stirring just until moist.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 4 or 5 times. Pat dough into an 8-inch circle on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Cut dough into 12 wedges, cutting into, but not through, dough.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm.
