Mushroom Steak
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces (undrained)
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. beef (boneless)
- Mix flour, salt and pepper.
- Sprinkle one side of beef steak with half of the flour mixture; pound in.
- Turn beef and pound in remaining flour mixture.
- Cut beef into 6 serving pieces.
- Heat oil in 10-inch skillet until hot.
- Cook beef in oil over medium heat, turning once, until brown, about 10 minutes.
- Add onion.
- Mix remaining ingredients except water and mushrooms; stir in water and mushrooms.
- Pour over beef.
- Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 hour.
- Makes 6 servings; 180 calories per serving.
