Demon Cake
- 2 sq. baking chocolate
- 3 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 egg whites
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pinch cream of tartar
- 1 c. butter
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 5 eggs, separated
- 1 c. water
- Melt the chocolate over simmering water.
- Cream together the butter and 2
- 1/4 cups sugar.
- Add the melted chocolate to this mixture.
- Sift the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder together and add alternately with buttermilk.
- Add well beaten egg yolks and stiffly beaten

- mixture. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- Pour the
- batter
- into three well-greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
- Bake att50u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
