Onion Casserole Bread
- 3 1/2 c. flour, divided
- 1 Tbsp. instant minced onion, toasted
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. RapidRise yeast
- 1 1/4 c. hot water (125~ to 130~)
- 1 Tbsp. margarine, softened
- 1 egg
- Set aside 1 cup flour.
- In large bowl, mix remaining flour, onion, salt and yeast.
- Stir water and margarine into dry mixture, beat by hand 30 seconds.
- Mix in only enough reserved flour to make very thick batter.
- Place in greased 1 1/2-quart casserole. With floured hands, smooth top of dough in casserole.
- Fill large pan with hot tap water 1-inch deep.
- Place casserole in water. Cover, let rise 25 minutes.
- Break beaten egg on loaf.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 25 minutes or until done.
- Loosen bread from casserole, using flexible spatula.
- Remove and cool on wire rack.
