Fluffy Gold Cake

  1. Sift together into bowl, Softasilk, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk, extract and vanilla.
  3. Beat vigorously with spoon for 2 minutes by clock (about 150 strokes per minute).
  4. Or mix with electric mixer on medium speed (middle of dial) for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the rest of milk and egg yolks.
  6. Beat 2 more minutes.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  8. Pan size:
  9. 2 round layers, 8 x 1 1/2-inch.
  10. Temperature:
  11. 350u0b0 (moderate oven). Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
  12. Cool.
  13. Frost with White Mountain Icing.
