Favorite Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 1/2 lb. Italian sausage
- 1/2 lb. ground round
- onion, chopped
- chopped green pepper
- 1 tsp. oregano leaf and/or sweet basil
- 2 Tbsp. parsley
- 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar or less (adjust to your taste)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 to 3 large cans tomato sauce (can also add Italian tomato sauce if desired)
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. oil
- Brown meat in oil with onion and green pepper.
- Drain off any grease (can use all Italian sausage if desired).
- Add seasonings and cook briefly until it flavors the meat.
- Add tomato sauce (adjust to own desired thickness, rinse cans with little water and add to sauce).
- When heated through and boiling, add brown sugar to taste.
- Adjust seasonings if necessary.
- Cook on low for 1 to 2 hours.
- Serve over spaghetti or use as sauce for lasagna.
- Freezes well.
