Crostata

  1. In bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Combine eggs, milk and vanilla; add to dry ingredients and mix well. Knead gently on floured surface until smooth.
  3. (Or mix all of the above in a food processor.)
  4. Set aside 1/3 of the dough.
  5. On floured surface, roll remaining dough to 15 x 10-inch rectangle. Place on ungreased cookie sheet or pan.
  6. Spread each jam crosswise over 1/3 of the dough in pan.
  7. Roll remaining dough to 12 x 10-inch rectangle.
  8. Cut into 1/2-inch wide strips.
  9. Carefully form strips into lattice top diagonally over jam-topped dough.
  10. Bake in 400u0b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
  11. Makes 40 bars.
