Meat Balls With Spaghetti
- 1/2 c. onion, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 2 large cans tomatoes
- 2 small cans tomato paste
- 2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. each: salt and pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 lb. ground pork
- 1 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp. parsley
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. long spaghetti
- Brown onion in hot olive oil.
- Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water and seasonings.
- Cook slowly for 1 hour.
- Combine remaining ingredients, except spaghetti; mix thoroughly.
- Form into small balls; brown in olive oil.
- Add to sauce; cook over low heat for 15 minutes.
- Cook spaghetti in boiling, salted water until tender; drain.
- Serve sauce over hot spaghetti.
- Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Makes 6 servings.
