Carne Guisada On Rice
- 2 1/2 pounds boneless round steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 (10-ounce) can tomatoes and green chilies, undrained and chopped
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped tomato
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- Hot cooked rice
- Jalapeno pepper slices (optional)
- Brown steak on all sides in hot oil in a large skillet. Sprinkle with flour; stir well. Add next 9 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes or until mixture is thickened. Serve stew over hot cooked rice. Garnish with Jalapeno pepper slices, if desired.
